Beach Escapes

The coast of southern and east Africa is blessed with thousands of kilometers of white sandy beaches with beautiful islands and a range of excellent resort hotels and eco-lodges. To make the decision as to where to spend your beach break is the difficult part. Firstly one needs to look at the time of year when you will be travelling and then to decide whether you are looking for a quiet and remote Eco-lodge, or a fun resort to enjoy with your family. Whether you wish to do snorkeling and sailing and enjoy a variety of restaurants or whether you would prefer a quiet spot with peaceful long walks on pristine coastline. This is where you need an expert to guide your decision to ensure that your beach vacation is all that you dream it to be.

    South Africa – Cape Town – a fabulous vacation destination as it has the mountain running along the length of its peninsula with the ocean on both sides.  The cold Atlantic Ocean with its beautiful beaches on the one side and the warm Indian Ocean with its coastal towns on the other. One is spoiled for choice when deciding where to stay to enjoy a beach vacation. 

    For a  few days getaway, one can head up the east coast and spend time on the beautiful Garden Route which encompasses towns such as the Wilderness and Plettenberg Bay. Both known for their long stretches of white sandy beach. On the west coast, Paternoster and Langebaan are favorites coastal spots.

    Along the Cape coast, one can find beautiful eco-lodges with long beaches of pristine coastline.

    The Eastern Cape and Kwazulu Natal have coastal lodges that make a perfect ending to a game safari.   

    Mauritius – a jewel in the Indian Ocean Island dotted with superb resort hotels. This is the perfect place to kick off your shoes and relax.  Warm water, white beaches and an excellent range of accommodation make Mauritius a favorite for South Africans wanting a family vacation or a romantic getaway.

    Zanzibar – off the shore of Tanzania lies the Zanzibar Archipelago which consists of Zanzibar, Pemba, and numerous smaller islands. The name alone is likely to conjure up images of spice markets, palm-fringed beaches and white-sailed Dhows on a turquoise sea.  Zanzibar is the perfect ending to an east African safari and offers a range of accommodation from beach bungalows to upmarket boutique hotels and spas.

    Mozambique – with 2500 km of coastline and numerous offshore islands, Mozambique has a lot to offer. Excellent resort hotels and eco- lodges offer superb accommodation, diving, snorkeling, dhow sailing, deep-sea fishing, horse riding, and more. 

    Malindi and Mombasa – Kenya’s coastal towns offer long white beaches, turquoise seas with marine reserves for snorkeling and diving.  The beach resorts make the perfect ending to a wildlife safari in this magnificent and diverse country.

    Seychelles – is the jewel in the crown of beautiful islands. With 155 islands in the  archipelago, one is spoiled for choice.  Giant palms, huge granite boulders, soft white sand, and azure sea make this a perfect honeymoon destination. It is also a fisherman’s paradise.
